Finnish-German hydrogen cooperation more important than ever – Hydrogen Cluster Finland joins the Deutsch-Finnisches Businessforum in Düsseldorf
Hydrogen Cluster Finland is taking part in the Deutsch-Finnisches Businessforum discussions on post-fossil energy on October 30-31 in Düsseldorf.
The business forum brings together Finnish and German companies, as well as representatives from politics and public organizations to discuss non-fossil energy, energy systems, energy efficiency, and energy independence. The event is opened by a speech by Joakim Strand, the Finnish Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering.
Hydrogen Cluster Finland is represented at the forum by the Chair Simo Säynevirta and Vice Chair Herkko Plit. In addition, Cluster member companies Fortum, Gasgrid, Neste, UPM, and Wärtsilä are participating in Düsseldorf.
Säynevirta and Plit will give an opening keynote on the advantages of the Finnish hydrogen ecosystem and the importance of focusing the European hydrogen investments in the right locations. Plit will also be an expert panelist on a panel discussion on post-fossil fuels like hydrogen, and how to manage the complex supply-demand model of new fuels with stable prices.
In the afternoon Säynevirta is giving a keynote speech on the Security & Resilience stage focusing on managing the cyber risks of the new energy systems and the requirements the energy systems have due to the fast scaling of renewables.
The participation underlines the high interest towards Finnish hydrogen ecosystem in Europe and the importance of Finnish-German cooperation in creating a hydrogen value network that benefits the whole Europe. This includes the production of hydrogen and high value-added hydrogen products as well as the transportation networks.
“Germany is an essential partner for Finland in hydrogen ecosystem building. We want to tighten our hydrogen cooperation and business relations with Germany and increase German and European hydrogen investments in Finland and the Nordics,” Säynevirta says.
