Hydrogen Cluster Finland appoints Managing Director
Hydrogen Cluster Finland has appointed Riitta Silvennoinen as its first Managing Director. Silvennoinen will officially assume her role on August 11, 2025.
Silvennoinen joins the position from Deloitte, where she served as a Senior Manager specializing in areas such as energy transition, circular economy, hydrogen economy, and sustainable development. Prior to Deloitte, she worked at St1 as Director of Energy Transition and New Energy Sources, and before that as a circular economy expert at Sitra. Silvennoinen holds a Licentiate of Technology degree from Aalto University.
“I’m excited to take on this meaningful role in close collaboration with various stakeholders. Finland has tremendous opportunities in the hydrogen economy and the green transition. By succeeding in these areas, we can contribute to climate change mitigation, energy self-sufficiency, and national well-being. The work ahead is significant, but through open cooperation and amplifying impact, we can establish Finland as a hydrogen economy frontrunner,” says Riitta Silvennoinen.
Founded in 2021, Hydrogen Cluster Finland has set ambitious goals to make Finland the leading hydrogen economy in Europe and create over 100,000 new jobs in the process. The Managing Director of Hydrogen Cluster Finland is a newly established role with exceptional influence in the country’s hydrogen economy and green transition.
The Managing Director’s responsibilities include leading and developing the association, creating and implementing a new impact strategy in collaboration with the board, building new cooperation models, engaging with stakeholders and networks, and expanding the cluster’s international presence.
“We’re truly delighted to welcome Riitta as the new Managing Director of Hydrogen Cluster Finland. Her appointment will help us enhance the association’s operations and increase our influence both in Finland and abroad. With her expertise, industry knowledge, and excellent attitude, Riitta is an outstanding leader for the association and the entire sector,” says Herkko Plit, Chair of the Hydrogen Cluster Finland.
Hydrogen Cluster Finland is a community of around 100 companies and business organizations from various sectors. In March 2025, the cluster formally became a registered association and trade organization, further strengthening its ability to foster collaboration and support societal decision-making.
