Finnair Oyj
Finnair is a network airline, specialising in connecting passenger and cargo traffic between Asia, North America and Europe. Finnair is one of the oldest operating airlines in the world, celebrating its centenary in 2023.
Sustainability is at the heart of our operations, and we’re committed to achieving carbon-neutral flying by 2045. Finnair uses an extensive toolkit to achieve emission reductions. The key tools for reducing emissions include reducing the weight of aircraft, developing fuel-efficient flight methods, using sustainable fuels and offsets, and engaging customers in reducing aviation emissions. Finnair is also actively exploring the possibilities of introducing new technologies into its operations.
Finnair was the first European airline to operate the Airbus A350XWB, the latest technology fuel-efficient aircraft. Finnair has identified and is exploring hydrogen as a relevant and important source of energy to power future flight.
Hydrogen can be utilized in aviation as a direct energy source or feedstock for drop-in fuels (PtL). The former requires new aircraft design and investments in new energy infrastructure, whereas the latter technology is ready to be utilized, ramped-up and further improved.
To decarbonize aviation, Finnair actively seeks to find future-proof hydrogen-based solutions together with all stakeholders. Join us in driving the green transition of aviation by investing in green fuel technologies, which will be the key driver for a sustainable future.
